Set out on a Moroccan adventure that encompasses the snowcapped High Atlas Mountains, the endless sands of the Sahara, and the bustling cities of Casablanca, Fes, and Marrakech. Along the way, Nikon and AFAR professional photographers David Tejada and Rachel Rudwall will provide photography mentoring as well as access to the latest Nikon equipment.
The small-group expedition begins in Casablanca with a visit to the Mosque of Hassan II, second only in size to the mosque at Mecca. We proceed to the famed “blue city” of Chefchaoun in the Rif Mountains. Next up is Fes, where we’ll explore the maze-like old city, passing donkeys piled high with goods, as well as the souk. We’ll trade the city for the valleys and cedar and pine forests of the Atlas Mountains region and then head to Merzouga, a charming Saharan village at the base of the Erg Chebbi dunes. A camel ride and overnight stay at a Bedouin camp—enjoying local food, fireside stories, and the brilliant desert stars—are included. The expedition continues inland toward the sensuous city of Marrakech, where the final two days provide the chance to capture iconic sights like the Jemaa el Fna market and the Koutoubia Mosque and savor a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant.
This 10-day, 9-night expedition begins in Casablanca and concludes in Marrakech, with diverse and compelling photography opportunities that include bustling urban scenes, Saharan landscapes, portraiture, and architecture.
